FAQs
Why do I overthink everything?
1
Overthinking is often your mind’s way of trying to avoid discomfort, rejection, or mistakes. It can feel productive in the moment, but it usually becomes exhausting over time. Therapy can help you notice the pattern and respond in a calmer, more manageable way.
How can therapy help with anxiety and overthinking?
2
Therapy helps you understand what keeps anxiety and intrusive thoughts going. Together, we’ll use practical tools to interrupt those cycles and help you feel more grounded. Over time, many people notice more calm, clarity, and ease.
What is CBT and how does it help with overthinking?
3
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. We look at unhelpful thought patterns and work toward more grounded, accurate perspectives. It can be a helpful approach for reducing anxiety and overthinking.
What is EMDR and is it right for me?
4
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence-based therapy that can help process experiences that still feel overwhelming. It is especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, and distressing memories. EMDR can be delivered safely and effectively through online sessions.
Who do you work with?
5
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, as well as people working through the emotional and behavioral side of weight, health, and lifestyle change. Many of my clients are women, though I welcome anyone who feels my approach is a good fit.
Do you work with people focused on weight loss or lifestyle change?
6
Yes. I work with people navigating the emotional and behavioral side of weight, health, and lifestyle change, including the shame, the frustration, and the patterns that keep getting in the way. I also provide presurgical psychosocial evaluations for people preparing for bariatric surgery.
Do you work with people going through menopause or other health-related transitions?
7
Yes. Menopause, aging, and other health changes can stir up a lot of emotions. Anxiety, a changing sense of identity, and feeling like you've lost your footing are all things we can work through together.
Is online therapy effective for anxiety and overthinking?
8
Yes. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, overthinking, and related concerns. It also offers the flexibility to attend sessions from your own space, which can make it easier to stay consistent.
In which states do you offer online therapy?
9
I work with people located in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Texas, and Colorado. You must be physically located in one of these states during each session.
Do you accept insurance?
10
I am an out-of-network provider, so clients pay directly at the time of service. Many insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. If you’d like, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement.
What should I expect during a free 15-minute consultation call?
11
This is a brief, no-pressure call where we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re looking for, and whether we feel like a good fit. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about my approach or the therapy process.
How long does therapy usually last?
12
The length of therapy depends on your goals and what you’re hoping to work on. Some people find short-term support helpful, while others choose longer-term work. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is still meeting your needs.
